WHO MAY TRYOUT?
Any student entering 9th - 12th grade who meet the following criteria may apply
for membership.
ROUTINE
Officers will teach a tryout routine during a rookie camp, held after school the
week prior to tryouts. An independent judging panel composed of 3 directors from
other school districts will judge routines. This routine will cover basic
equipment fundamentals and movement, with minimal drill included. Scores will be
based on effort, timing, and performance quality. Maximum score is 50.
TEACHER EVALUATIONS
Candidates will be required to obtain teacher evaluation forms from the
director. Teachers should complete and return them to the Director before the
tryout date. Teacher evaluations will be averaged for each student, giving an
overall score. Maximum score is 15.
GRADES & REFERRAL HISTORY
Student grade and behavior records will be examined to determine eligibility for
tryouts as well as reliability and determination. A point system will be used to
give an overall score: 4 points for a's; 3 points for b's; 2
points for c's; 1 point for d's. Minor infraction referrals will deduct
one point from the overall score. Severe infractions may be cause for removal
from officer tryouts completely. Maximum score is 15.
DIRECTOR EVALUATION
Tryout candidates will be evaluated during the rookie camp the week before
tryouts. Attendance, effort, and attitude will play a major role in this score.
Maximum score is 20.
