Open auditions for membership in the 2007-2008 UHS Illusions Colorguard program will be held on Thursday, April 26th.  A training clinic will be hosted in the UHS Cafeteria April 23rd through April 25th, from 4 to 6.  Anyone interested in auditioning for membership needs to plan to attend the clinic. 

NO EXPERIENCE is necessary! 
We will teach you everything you need to know!!

Here is some additional information that you may find useful.

 WHO MAY TRYOUT?
 

Any student entering 9th - 12th grade who meet the following criteria may apply for membership.

bulletMust have been eligible a minimum of 4 grading periods during current the school year
bulletMust not have any serious, or excessive, referrals during the current school year
bulletMust attend all 3 days of the tryout clinic prior to tryouts to learn basic moves and tryout routine
bulletMust achieve a minimum total score of 75 using the following score format:

SCORING FORMAT:

bulletRoutine - 50%
bulletTeacher Evaluations - 15%
bulletGrades & Referral History - 15%
bulletDirector Evaluation - 20%

ROUTINE
Officers will teach a tryout routine during a rookie camp, held after school the week prior to tryouts. An independent judging panel composed of 3 directors from other school districts will judge routines. This routine will cover basic equipment fundamentals and movement, with minimal drill included. Scores will be based on effort, timing, and performance quality. Maximum score is 50.

TEACHER EVALUATIONS
Candidates will be required to obtain teacher evaluation forms from the director. Teachers should complete and return them to the Director before the tryout date. Teacher evaluations will be averaged for each student, giving an overall score. Maximum score is 15.

GRADES & REFERRAL HISTORY
Student grade and behavior records will be examined to determine eligibility for tryouts as well as reliability and determination. A point system will be used to give an overall score: 4 points for a's;  3 points  for b's;  2 points for c's; 1 point for d's.  Minor infraction referrals will deduct one point from the overall score. Severe infractions may be cause for removal from officer tryouts completely. Maximum score is 15.

DIRECTOR EVALUATION
Tryout candidates will be evaluated during the rookie camp the week before tryouts. Attendance, effort, and attitude will play a major role in this score. Maximum score is 20.
